CHICAGO, Aug. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Large crowds and an exuberant reception greeted Whole Foods Market and Novak teams Wednesday morning as they opened the doors to the first wave of new customers. Replacing the smaller Whole Foods a few blocks away, this remodeled 50,000 square foot space in Hinsdale Lake commons represents the seventh of the former Dominick's spaces that Whole Foods acquired.
For many in this western suburb, with classes and extracurricular activities now resuming, Whole Foods may well become a destination for healthy lunch and dinner solutions, in addition to filling the pantry. A sandwich station provides Panini-style sandwiches, such as Italian sausage, Italian beef, meatball and chicken Parmesan. The Smoke House has a variety of in-house smoked meats, including a 12-hour slow-smoked brisket. In the morning, there are coffee and juice bars. A brownie and a bar cookie section offers homemade breakfast bars an brownie treats, while the enormous bakery carries fresh doughnuts and apple fritters.
"The new Willowbrook location has something for everyone," noted Novak's Project Director, Steve Bykowski. "For the craft brew devotees, there's a rotating tap of 24 draft beers, incorporating Whole Foods' tradition of featuring exclusive neighborhood-themed ones, like Willowbrook Pale Ale and Domaine DuPage French Country Ale." He added, "It has been fun to watch these projects come to completion and know the part they will play in the social fabric of the community. Neighbors will meet for a drink or a couple may come in for wine tasting. The former drudgery of grocery shopping is morphing into something fun and exciting."
Novak Founder/President, John Novak, commented, "We have been honored and fortunate to serve as Whole Foods' general contractor on over two dozen remodels and ground-up stores. As of this Fall, we will be partnering with them as we develop our property on the corner of Ashland and Belmont Avenues in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, which will become their new 70,000 square foot flagship store. What a great way for us to both be celebrating a 35th anniversary!"
The successful Novak Team, led by Bykowski, was supplemented by Sr. Project Manager, Zach Fredman; Project Manager, Grey Novak; Fred Erickson, Division Superintendent; newly-promoted VP – Construction, Dan Moriarity (who served as Project Superintendent); Project Administrator, Angela Campisi; and, Project Accountant, Mark Weiner.
