Norton Security Named Official Protection Software of Air Force Association's CyberPatriot
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association today announced Symantec's Norton Security as the Official Protection Software of CyberPatriot. As part of its partnership, Symantec will provide its award winning Norton Security Deluxe software to more than 23,000 CyberPatriot participants.
CyberPatriot, a national student competition created by the Air Force Association, simulates a cyber intrusion for teams of high school and middle school students. Placed in the position of newly hired IT professionals, the students compete to find cybersecurity vulnerabilities and harden the system while maintaining critical services.
"Symantec's long-standing support of CyberPatriot has helped us reach students, provide a foundational experience in cybersecurity, and positively influence their future in STEM." said Bernie Skoch, CyberPatriot National Commissioner. "We are delighted to designate Symantec's Norton Security as our Official Protection Software. Their industry-leading technologies and products, as well as their clear vision for preparing the next generation of cyber defenders make them a perfect partner in this national program.
Entering its third year of support for CyberPatriot, Symantec shares the commitment of the Air Force Association to inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and cybersecurity.
"CyberPatriot brings students into the exciting world of cybersecurity where they're battling new threats and learning how to stay ahead of hackers and other bad actors," said Fran Rosch, executive vice president, Norton by Symantec. "At Symantec, we're on the front lines of cybersecurity. The skills the students are cultivating with CyberPatriot are the exact skills we rely on to protect the companies, governments, institutions and individuals that use our security solutions."
The CyberPatriot National Finals Competition will take place April 10-14, 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland. Featuring the top 27 teams, the students' cybersecurity skills will be put to the test as they vie for national recognition and scholarships.
