CHICAGO, March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Universal Research Solutions (a.k.a. OBERD), in an effort to improve the quality of health care through the collection of robust standard data sets, have entered into a collaboration to create a registry platform consisting of multiple registries, organized under the PROMIS® domains. The new registry platform, "PROMIS Global Registry powered by OBERD," will be a unique central repository for data collected via PROMIS forms, and will feature the superior benchmarking capabilities offered by OBERD.
PROMIS® (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System) is a set of person-centered measures that evaluates and monitors physical, mental and social health in adults and children. It can be used with the general population and individuals living with chronic conditions. The Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) version reduces patient burden significantly, thereby helping to increase compliance.
Through OBERD, an industry leader in outcomes measurement, physicians will be able to access the web-based system (HIPAA-compliant secure access) and have their patients contribute data directly into the registry via electronic validated forms (PROMIS, PROMIS-CAT, and others) from any device, anywhere they have internet access. OBERD currently reports over 85 percent compliance to form opening three months pre-op and three months post-op, and over 95 percent compliance to form completion for opened forms.
"Being able to compare and benchmark data in a de-identified form within the institution and across the registry database will open up vast new possibilities for research," said David Cella, chair of medical social sciences at Feinberg. "It will also enable junior researchers from across the globe to access PROMIS and other National Institute of Health sponsored health measures at little or no cost."
"At the core of our collaborative partnership with Northwestern University and the PROMIS team is the advancement of evidence-based medical practice across multiple practice specialties" said Ali Hussam, CEO of OBERD. "We are excited at the opportunities that lie ahead for this collaboration to significantly enhance quantified quality health care."
