BOSTON, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ilene Strongin-Garry, Manager, Knowledge Management and Sharing Culture Champion at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) and a Northern Light® SinglePoint™ portal administrator for the past five years, has received a 2017 "Outstanding Woman in Travel Research" award from Women in Travel and Tourism International (WITTI).
Strongin-Garry was honored recently as part of the annual WITTI Awards program based on the evaluation results of a panel of peers from WITTI, an association with a network of over 14,000 women working in the travel industry around the globe. She was selected from among more than 80 nominees.
"We are excited for and extremely proud of Ilene for receiving this significant industry recognition," C. David Seuss, CEO of Northern Light, said. "She is a consummate knowledge management professional that understands how to deliver high value business intelligence to decision makers within IHG. Ilene is a creative 'power user' and administrator of Northern Light SinglePoint, IHG's strategic research portal. Ilene conceived KnowledgeNet from scratch, loaded it with high value content, and built an array of strategic dashboards and newsletters that deliver timely news, research, and analyses tailored to the needs of IHG for business decision-making purposes."
Seuss noted that many organizations Northern Light works with across all industries have women in leadership roles in market research and competitive intelligence. "Over sixty percent of the SinglePoint market research and competitive intelligence staffs we serve are women," Seuss said. "We applaud the WITTI for its advocacy of women in leadership roles in the travel industry and we applaud all the women in market research and competitive intelligence across all industries."
Strongin-Garry began her career with IHG (then Bass Hotels & Resorts) in 1999. Starting out by creating an access database for primary research at IHG in 2001, Strongin-Garry has built a world-class knowledge management function, cultivating a sharing culture across the enterprise and identifying and procuring market intelligence resources to meet the critical business research needs of IHG colleagues across the globe. She is the focal point of access to authoritative information by the business. She is also responsible for starting the competitive intelligence and market trends functions for IHG.
IHG is a global organization with a broad portfolio of hotel brands. IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns nearly 5,200 hotels and 770,000 guest rooms in almost 100 countries, with nearly 1,500 hotels in its development pipeline.
