The NABE conference, entitled "Big Data Analytics at Work: New Tools for Corporate and Industry Economics," is being held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston today and tomorrow. According to the organizers, it is designed to provide attendees with a broad overview of what big data is and how big data techniques are being used by private industry, business and academic economists, and policy researchers.
Speakers at the conference include several MIT professors, the chief economists at the Consumer Electronics Association and Intel Corp., and senior executives at Ford Motor Company, SAS, Uber and Fidelity Investments.
Mr. Seuss' talk will focus on the application of text analytics to online news reports to enable automated analysis of them for competitive analysis and other strategic business purposes. Such a capability is embedded in Northern Light SinglePoint™ strategic research portals.
Large enterprises deploy Northern Light SinglePoint to provide employees single-search access to and analysis of primary and licensed secondary research content, relevant social media postings, and business news. Recently, Northern Light introduced mobile apps for Apple, Android, BlackBerry and Windows smartphones that complement SinglePoint portals. Any content in a SinglePoint portal can be made available to authorized users of the enterprise version of Northern Light's mobile apps, which currently are available to Northern Light SinglePoint customers for beta test.
Special content sets available from Northern Light for integration into SinglePoint portals include industry-optimized business news, life sciences conference abstracts and posters, and IT industry analyst blogs and tweets. Virtually any research that a company creates or licenses also can be integrated into SinglePoint.
"I'm looking forward to sharing with this audience our innovative application of text analytics optimized for strategic business analysis," C. David Seuss, Northern Light's CEO, said. "Northern Light's approach to automated analysis of 'big text' represents an important corollary to this conference's overall theme of 'big data', and should be directly relevant to the interests of many attendees."
