Northern California And Northern Nevada McDonald's® Restaurants Kick Off The School Year With Free Breakfast For Students On September 9
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As students prepare for their first day of school, McDonald's restaurants in Northern California and Northern Nevada are helping kick-start their year with a wholesome breakfast. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, participating restaurants will offer free breakfast to kindergarten through eighth grade students from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Students less than 13 yrs. of age are required to be accompanied by an adult when visiting a participating McDonald's restaurant.
Students can receive an Egg White Delight McMuffin, apple slices and 1% low fat milk, free of charge.
"Research continues to show the correlation between students starting their day with a nutritious breakfast and having a higher success rate in school," said Amy Myrdal Miller, MS, RDN, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, nutrition consultant, and president of Farmer's Daughter Consulting. "McDonald's is continuously working to evolve their menu towards providing healthier options for adults and kids, and hopefully students will take the opportunity to start their school day on September 9—and every school day after that—with a healthy breakfast."
Students can enjoy balanced and healthier options at McDonald's, including the Egg White Delight McMuffin, which features freshly grilled 100% egg whites, extra lean Canadian bacon and white cheddar on an English muffin made with eight grams of whole grain.
"McDonald's is strongly committed to the well-being of children. As we mark the beginning of the new school year, we are excited to provide students a free wholesome breakfast to help them start their day off right," said Gino Potesta, Vice President and General Manager, Pacific Sierra Region.
