Northcentral University Launches Four New Graduate Degree Programs in October
School of Business is set to expand, offer more options to new students
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning this month, Northcentral University (NCU) is expanding its unique, one-hundred percent online curriculum and 1:1 teaching model to include four new graduate degree programs within its School of Business. Designed for professionals interested in growing in their current careers, or shifting into a new field, each program is structured to ensure flexibility and accessibility for nontraditional students.
"A core part of our approach to graduate education is ensuring that barriers related to a traditional university environment don't prevent busy working professionals from continuing their education," said Kelley Walters, PhD, Dean of the School of Business. "Each of these new programs implements those principles through weekly rolling start dates and a one-hundred percent online approach, with no residency requirements."
While NCU is comprised of five schools, spanning diverse disciplines, October's new programs will come from the School of Business, and target professions that have shown potential for future job growth.
"The demand for public administration and human resource management professionals is expected to grow over the next ten years," says Dr. Walters. "That's why these programs are a natural fit for Northcentral University students, who are often looking for educational options that meaningfully further their careers."
NCU's October program launches include:
- Master of Public Administration (MPA) – This 36-credit program is designed for professionals working to understand the complexities of community problems and navigate the bureaucracy of public organizations. Students will be prepared to manage and lead all aspects of public organization and carry out research in the field. Topics of study include public administration in the 21st century, public budgeting and finance, quality management, and technologies and innovations in government.
- Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) – Designed for potential and current mid and senior level managers, this program enhances students' knowledge and competencies as they relate to leadership in public administration. Students will learn the appropriate literature and research methods for practical application and will become experts and contribute to the current body of knowledge in the field of public administration.
- Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) – This 30-credit program is designed to impart a deep understanding of the evolution of human resources as a field and core issues from the perspectives of both management and employees. Areas of study will include equal employment opportunity, employment law, compensation and benefits, labor relations, recruitment, professional development, and retention. Graduates will be prepared for a range of human resource and project management roles.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Human Resource Management (PHD-HRM) – With 60-credit hours and a research-based approach, this program is designed to prepare students to become experts in the human resource management field and for leadership positions in the private and public sectors. In addition to core theoretical and contextual understandings, students will also gain a deep knowledge of the topical issues and challenges that human resource-related roles tackle. Additionally, doctoral candidates will be required to master the technical aspects of statistics and research, and utilize those skills in the completion of a dissertation.
