North Shore Animal League America Rescues 40 Dogs From Inhumane Commercial Breeding Operation Thanks to Generous Donation From News Corp
Corporate support helps save animal lives through North Shore Animal League America's humane relocation and shelter adoption programs
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- North Shore Animal League America - the world's largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization - will transport 40 dogs rescued from a raid on an inhumane commercial breeding facility in Missouri to its pet adoption headquarters in Port Washington thanks to generous support from News Corp. The dogs, which are mainly Shih Tzu's and other small mixed breeds, will be evaluated medically and behaviorally at the Animal League before being made available for adoption.
Commercial breeding facilities, otherwise known as puppy mills, account for the majority of animals sold at pet stores across the nation. The animals at these facilities are neglected and live in overcrowded, harsh and inhumane conditions. Animals that cannot produce are often killed or sold at mill auctions for as little as .25 cents. In addition, commercial breeding facilities contribute heavily to pet over population; each year in the United States nearly 4 million animals are euthanized due to homelessness. Many of these purebred animals can be found at local shelters; adopting a pet means saving a life.
Corporate support helps North Shore Animal League America save lives through humane relocation, shelter adoption and shelter animal awareness programs. Thousands of purebreds and Mutt-i-grees® have been rescued from overcrowded shelters, puppy mills and irresponsible breeders and relocated to its no-kill pet adoption headquarters in New York - where they have the opportunity to find permanent loving homes.
North Shore Animal League America is a registered 501-c-3 charity that relies solely on private donor and corporate support. NSALA does not receive any city, state, or federal funding.
