North River Club acquired by DeWitt Carolinas, Inc.
BEAUFORT, N.C., June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Raleigh-based development company DeWitt Carolinas, Inc. announces its latest real estate development acquisition, the North River Club in Beaufort, North Carolina. The company purchased the 275-acre, 18-hole golf course and has been working diligently to ready an additional 316 acres of land for future lot development.
DeWitt Carolinas, Inc. is owned by lifelong friends, Todd Saieed and Ven Poole. Todd Saieed, CEO, said, "We are pleased to be a part of the Beaufort community and look forward to the ongoing development of North River. We have a well-organized team of professionals that aspire to make this community and golf course a development that the town and the residents of Beaufort, as well as its visitors, are proud of."
The development is currently zoned as an approved planned unit development (PUD) and residential R-5. Current PUD approval allows for more than 1,500 residential lots. This includes 316 acres for residential development, 43 acres for road and infrastructure, 250 acres for the golf course and 20 acres for commercial development. There are currently 57 lots available for immediate construction.
Last June, efforts to revitalize the golf course kicked off with the purchase of new maintenance equipment and golf carts. Jonathan Birkett, superintendent since 2007, will continue his mission to make the course a preferred destination for golfers.
Joe Kreuser has joined North River as the Head Golf Professional. "This golf course has the potential to become the premiere golfing destination for Eastern North Carolina," said Kreuser. "I'm excited to be on board and to have the opportunity to share my love for the game with this community."
Immediate plans to construct a 6,000-square-foot clubhouse facility are underway. The clubhouse will consist of men's and women's locker rooms, a dining facility with bar, a meeting room for local gatherings and social functions, and a golf pro shop. Construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2014.
Additional amenities forecasted for the community include a commercial-sized pool, cabana house, and the installation of restrooms on the golf course. The pool and cabana house will be ready for residents and members to enjoy in spring of 2015.
Design engineers have been busy working with development to make plans for future lot sales and for the development of new home construction. Town Manager, Charlie Burgess said, "we are pleased to have the opportunity to work with DeWitt Carolinas, Inc. on the North River Club development. The Town is excited in offering our assistance to the new owners in helping to facilitate the success of the development of the North River Club community."
New home sales will begin at $200,000 and go up depending on the location. Accessibility to this community will be enhanced with the construction of a new highway 70 bypass around Beaufort.
As platinum sponsors of The Big Rock and strong supporters of the local communities, North River will be inviting all tournament participants to come to the course to receive a two-for-one greens fee and cart rental during the 2014 tournament.
