North Island Credit Union Helps San Diego Students Get Ready for School

Credit union provides 275 backpacks & school supplies to local elementary, middle and high schools

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- North Island Credit Union (North Island) is working to make school a little bit easier for hundreds of San Diego students and their families.

For the second year, North Island assembled and donated more than 275 backpacks filled with school supplies for students across San Diego County, working with EmbroidMe San Diego. Customized with supplies for each student's specific grade level, the backpacks will be distributed by staff in each of North Island's 11 San Diego County branches to neighborhood elementary, middle or high school throughout the month of September. School administrators will then provide the backpacks to those students in need.

"There is simply no better way to prepare our young people for a successful future than by supporting them in their education," said North Island President/CEO Steve O'Connell. "We are excited to again participate in this important program that helps local students of all ages start the school year right and support their path to learning and literacy."

E3 Civic High School, San Diego
Hage Elementary School, San Diego
Hilltop Drive Elementary School, Chula Vista
Howard Pence Elementary School, San Diego
Integrity Charter Elementary School, National City
Our Lady's Elementary School, San Diego
Steam Academy at La Presa Middle School, Spring Valley

The backpack giveaway program was conceived and organized by North Island and EmbroidMe San Diego in 2015, and has since become an annual event.
