North Carolina College Town to Host Gay and Lesbian Travel Event During North Carolina Pride Weekend
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- North Carolina Pride based in Durham, North Carolina, is offering a weekend tour package in conjunction with the 26th annual NC Pride Parade and Festival. The package is being coordinated through the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau.
"On behalf of the greater Chapel Hill area, it gives us great pleasure to host this 2nd annual event surrounding the NC Pride weekend. Last year's Chapel Hill travel package sold out immediately and we are still receiving calls and letters from participants talking about what an amazing experience it was. Those who don't know Chapel Hill should take this opportunity to explore. Those who have visited before, will surely want to come back for this annual event," said Laurie Paolicelli, director of the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau.
GLBT visitors and friends will enjoy a two-day excursion of Chapel Hill's incredible offering of arts, antiques, food and music beginning Friday, September 24 and running through Sunday afternoon September 26.
Highlights of the event include: Accommodations at the newly remodeled contemporary Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel; "world coffee" tasting, art and antiques; a piano concert featuring the works of Chopin; and talks with local public gay officials in a 1920s railroad car restaurant. The package price is $299* for two nights, including meals, tours and full itinerary (double occupancy). Last September, with the help of area GLBT leaders, tour planners and media were invited by the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau to get a taste of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough and to let the gay traveling public know the Chapel Hill area is inclusive and welcoming.
