North American Spine's AccuraScope Procedure Featured on Oklahoma City NBC Affiliate, KFOR
DALLAS, April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- North American Spine™, the exclusive provider of the AccuraScope® procedure, was featured on KFOR, an NBC affiliate station in Oklahoma City on April 24, 2015. The AccuraScope procedure offers hope to those who suffer from neck and back pain with its treatment that does not involve a major surgery. The segment featured Joe Berry of Oklahoma, who was struggling with neck pain from years of previously being a firefighter and from his current job as an EMT.
Berry was barely able to move and suffered from constant headaches. "I ate Excedrin like it was candy for a long time," said Berry.
Berry refused to take pain killers because he needed to be alert for his job. After minor surgery, steroid shots and other conventional treatments, Berry was out of options.
Major surgery was Berry's next step but he would have to take a year off of work, which was not an option. He researched different alternatives and found something promising in Texas, when he discovered the AccuraScope procedure, which is a surgical alternative.
The AccuraScope procedure is performed in Dallas by North American Spine doctors. This procedure is a minimally invasive spine surgery and takes less than an hour to complete. Doctors from North American Spine use a tiny laser, smaller than the tip of a mechanical pencil that only works on the tissue it touches. Doctors recommend that the AccuraScope treatment is best for those with tissue related issues, not with bone problems.
The North American Spine doctors made a small incision on the front of Berry's neck. They also used a small camera along with a laser to directly target the bulging and protruding tissue. Barry felt immediate relief from the AccuraScope procedure and was able to walk out of the clinic that day.
Most patients who receive the AccuraScope procedure feel pain-free immediately and are able to leave the clinic the day of the procedure and return to work within a week.
"We see a lot of patients from out-of-state for the AccuraScope procedure," Jon Sasser of North American Spine said. "It is a great surgical alternative that will have you pain-free and back to work in a minimal amount of time."
To date, more than 8,000 AccuraScope procedures have been performed by board-certified physicians with specialty training. Medical research has shown that the AccuraScope procedure has an 82% success rate and saves patients an average of $23,190 in out-of-pocket costs over 5 years by reducing expenses including medical visits and medications.
