North 6th Agency Reveals Six Most Influential Energy Industry Headlines Of 2013
Much debated Keystone XL pipeline and Obama's Energy Security Trust Fund top this year's most influential energy industry headlines
NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- North 6th Agency (N6A), an award-winning communications agency based in New York City and San Francisco, announced today the results from the energy industry category in its '6 on 6' program.
As part of the first annual '6 on 6' program, N6A assembled a panel of business executives, media influencers, well-respected analysts and pundits with expertise across the energy industry. N6A then solicited feedback and insights from the panel and asked them to rank the top six most influential stories of the year within the category.
Final results of the N6A '6 on 6' energy category are as follows:
- The controversial Keystone XL pipeline that will help link Canada's oil sands to U.S. refineries is delayed until 2014.
- Obama introduces the "Energy Security Trust Fund" in his State of the Union address to spark investment in alternatives to oil.
- According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), energy-related emissions rose 2.6 percent in the first part of 2013, and the EIA expects emissions to keep rising.
- California adopts the nation's first energy storage mandate, a groundbreaking proposal that requires state utilities to expand their energy storage to meet renewable energy demands.
- A number of sports stadiums around the country go green to save on energy and curb carbon emissions by installing solar panels, recycling programs, and more.
- New York State's Health Department issues a report that indicates hydrofracking, the natural gas drilling technology, could be conducted safely.
The energy industry is the second of six categories that N6A is announcing this month. Last week, N6A unveiled the results from the Mobile Industry category, which can be found here. The panelist could not be employed by, or compete with, a company that is indexed as one of the top stories in a category.
