NORESCO Selected for New Mexico Energy Efficiency Program
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., May 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The State of New Mexico recently selected NORESCO, a national leader in energy efficiency and energy infrastructure solutions, as a qualified provider of energy performance contracting (EPC) services to New Mexico government entities. NORESCO specializes in the development, design, construction, financing and operation of energy- and environmental-efficiency projects and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Selected through a competitive bidding process and statewide price agreement, NORESCO is qualified to provide services through the WISE program, New Mexico's energy efficiency program for government entities. WISE, which stands for Whole-building Investments for Sustainable Efficiency, is coordinated by the Energy Conservation and Management Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.
The WISE program provides a standardized process for government entities, including state agencies, public school districts, public colleges and universities and municipal and county governments, to implement energy performance projects, with increased accountability for all involved. They can access financing and accomplish projects such as upgrading facilities, fleets, water infrastructure and renewable energy by using energy cost savings to offset project costs without government borrowing or spending additional taxpayer dollars. In addition to reducing energy use, the freed-up utility spending can be used to address capital improvement needs and, in the case of schools, be used in the classroom.
NORESCO has enjoyed a successful history of delivering energy savings and sustainability projects in New Mexico. Over the past 10 years, NORESCO has implemented more than 15 projects for customers based in New Mexico, including Albuquerque Public Schools, the University of New Mexico Hospital and Santa Fe Community College.
"NORESCO is honored to have been awarded the statewide price agreement and to be included in the WISE program in New Mexico," said Ed Nichols, sales director, NORESCO. "The WISE program enables the customer to realize facility upgrades without tapping capital funds or raising taxes, while reducing the dependence on fossil fuels and lowering harmful emissions and greenhouse gases. We look forward to a long-standing partnership and a successful program that will benefit all New Mexico residents."
