Nordic IPR Forum Releases the Survey Result on IP Challenges
LONDON, January 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
In preparation of Nordic IPR Forum 2012, a new survey conducted by the Legal IQ asked more than 300 Intellectual Property professionals about their most pressing challenges.
Respondents reported key challenges are:
- IP regulatory and legal reform
- Increased activity by Non Practicing Entities
- Increased piracy and infringement
- The need to cut cost
The survey found that 45.5 per cent of professionals view intellectual property as 'completely integral' to their business model, furthermore the area was considered to be 'very integral' or 'fairly integral' by 29.8 per cent and 19.2 per cent respectively, illustrating just how important this sector is in the digital landscape.
A key issue that many firms experience with patents and intellectual property is the constantly shifting landscape, ensuring that the issue demands constant monitoring. Of the professionals polled for the Legal IQ survey, 44.9 per cent believed that the recent discussions concerning patent co-operation within Europe and plans for a Unitary EU patent have had the biggest impact on the way they deal with intellectual property, compared to any other issue. Whilst 35.9 per cent said the same of the increased IP and patenting activities in China as the nation shakes off its emerging market status and becomes a major world player.
