Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Announces 2011 National Award Winners
--Alliance's Affiliates Help Ensure Nonprofit Leader Talent Our Country Needs--
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (formerly American Humanics) presented its 2011 National Awards during their recent annual Management/Leadership Institute (AHMI 2011 Orlando, January 2011), attended by more than 800 participants. For years, the organization has recognized excellence in nonprofit workforce preparation, as well as the professionals and organizations that support the next generation of nonprofit sector leaders. This year was no exception with regards to continuing this legacy.

The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance was proud to present five national awards this year:
- Program Excellence Award, sponsored by The Sprint Foundation, the Alliance's most prestigious campus award given to a campus program that exemplifies overall best practices in student recruitment, internship placement, marketing and certifications. For the first time ever, two campuses shared this award.
Co-Winners: Auburn University at Montgomery and University of Texas at San Antonio
- Workforce Affiliate of the Year Award, sponsored by Mutual of America, presented to the nonprofit organization or professional that has demonstrated leadership and commitment in supporting the preparation of the nonprofit sector workforce through their partnership and support of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Winner: YMCA of the USA
- H. Roe Bartle Presidential Leadership Award, an award given in honor of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance's founder which recognizes academic leaders that advance the organization's mission of nonprofit professional preparation and workforce development.
Winner: Dr. John Veres, III, Chancellor, Auburn University at Montgomery
- Internship of the Year Award, a new award presented by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance which recognizes quality internships as critical educational experiences for students.
Winners: Donna Hajos, Montgomery AIDS Outreach, Auburn University at Montgomery; Mike Murphree, Executive Director, Montgomery AIDS Outreach; and Tink Lucy-Bouler, Campus/Executive Director, Auburn University at Montgomery
- Alumni of the Year Award, presented to a Nonprofit Leadership Alliance alumni whose exceptional commitment, work and leadership supports future nonprofit leaders through our certification program.
Winner: Jordon Vernoy, Founding Executive Director, Iowa Food Bank Association and 2007 Alumni of the University of Northern Iowa
The awards were judged by one of three National Awards Selection Committees comprised of Nonprofit Leadership Alliance stakeholders, including affiliated faculty members; alumni; workforce affiliates; Board of Directors members; and sponsors.
