BETHESDA, Md., Nov. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the David L. Rimoin Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Genetics in recognition of the life and career of the late Dr. David L. Rimoin. As the founding President of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) and past President of the ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine (ACMGF), Dr. Rimoin was a visionary and a genetics pioneer.
The David L. Rimoin Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Genetics is the ACMG Foundation's most distinguished honor. This distinction includes a monetary prize of 10,000 dollars and a crystal award to be presented at the 2018 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting during the ACMGF Annual Donor Reception. The Rimoin Award is given to an individual in the medical genetics profession who exemplifies a lifetime of achievements and personal qualities embodied by Dr. Rimoin, including his passion for teaching and mentoring, his care of patients and their families, and his enthusiasm for integrating the medical genetics and genomics community into mainstream healthcare.
Individuals do not need to be an ACMG member to make a nomination.
