Nominations Open for Sixth Annual PDQ Award Announced by SIAC
FRISCO, Texas, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Nominations are now open for the sixth annual Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award contest presented by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA). Designed to recognize the best North American program that reduces unnecessary alarm calls, the PDQ Award has honored some of the leading companies in the electronic security industry, including Broadview Security (formerly Brink's Home Security, and now ADT Security Services, Inc.) in 2006 and 2010, Vector Security Systems of Pittsburgh (2005), Alarm Detection Systems, Inc. (2007), and Atronic Alarm Systems (2008).
"These are the top companies in North America when it comes to preventing unnecessary alarms, and setting a leadership example in the electronic security industry on how to do things the right way. We know there are many other companies managing their alarm systems effectively and efficiently, and we encourage them to apply for this year's award. It's a feather in the cap for the company selected," said SIAC Executive Director Stan Martin.
One of the goals of the PDQ Award is to promote partnerships in public safety by recognizing how the winning company works with local law enforcement to best manage their alarm systems and reduce calls to police for dispatch. Co-sponsored by Security Sales & Integration Magazine and Honeywell Security, the PDQ Award helps the winners promote their companies in a positive manner by demonstrating their commitment to high quality alarm reduction programs and practices.
"This is a great venue for companies to win an award that can be used in promotions to their customers. Good alarm reduction programs ultimately benefit the customer by saving costs through reduced fines," Martin said. "We are looking for companies that exemplify an all out effort to reduce false alarms from implementing ECV to utilizing ANSI CP-01 compliant control panels, training customers and working closely with law enforcement."
Other key points for companies wishing to apply:
- The winning security company will receive $1000 from Honeywell so a team representative may attend the awards ceremony in Charlotte, NC at ESX.
- Monitoring and/or installing alarm dealers in the U.S. and Canada must mail an application postmarked by 02/28/2011.
- Outstanding program ideas will be highlighted in Security Sales & Integration Magazine, in security association publications and their Web sites and at ESX in Charlotte, NC in 2011.
- Security companies and local police officials should meet now to form partnerships in public safety.
