Nominations open for annual NCRP Impact Awards to recognize the best of the best U.S. grantmakers
Four new categories reflect high-impact philanthropy "during this critical moment of our history"
WASHINGTON, June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Over the past year, many grantmakers responded in bold and creative ways to stand up for vulnerable communities, to fight for democracy, justice and equity, and to ensure a vibrant and secure future for all in the country.
The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) today announced that it will recognize those funders that led by example, took risks and showed commitment to improving lives and communities for its 2017 Impact Awards.
"Imagine a world where grantmakers are using their resources to make headway on education outcomes, health care, economic security, racial equity and more," said Aaron Dorfman, president and CEO of NCRP in a blog post about the annual awards. "NCRP Impact Awardees are role models for others funders so that they, too, can achieve positive lasting impact especially during this critical moment of our history."
Call for nominations
NCRP is inviting individuals and organizations to nominate U.S.-based private foundations, family foundations, community foundations, corporate foundations and other grantmaking charities of all shapes and sizes that exemplified high-impact domestic giving in the past year in one of four categories:
- The "Smashing Silos" Award
A funder that embodied intersectional grantmaking. It sought to address root causes of social, economic or environmental challenges by supporting multi-issue and cross-identity efforts led by marginalized communities.
- The "Get Up, Stand Up" Award
An inspiring grantmaker that used rapid-response grants to provide timely, flexible resources to groups in the frontlines of social movements.
- The "Changing Course" Award
A fearless funder that used critical feedback from stakeholders, especially from communities that benefit from its giving, to shift strategies and change how it operates.
- The "Mover and Shaker" Award
A funder that showed leadership by using its reputation and expertise to encourage other grantmakers to prioritize and empower underserved and underrepresented communities.
Nomination forms are available on NCRP's website and must be submitted online by July 10, 2017.
