NEW YORK, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nomad Editions, a first-of-its-kind media company that produces digital weekly publications designed exclusively for mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad and other platforms, today announced the appointment of Barbara Fairchild as a columnist and contributor.
In her new position, Fairchild will write a monthly column for the Nomad Editions digital publication, Real Eats, which features weekly stories from a team of accomplished writers about the people involved in growing, harvesting, creating and presenting the food we enjoy. Fairchild is a renowned food writer and editor, having previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of Bon Appetit Magazine for the last 10 years, as well as authoring the publication's best-selling cookbooks.
"We are thrilled to have Barbara Fairchild join our growing editorial roster, which now features the most acclaimed journalists across several categories and special interest areas," said Mark Edmiston, CEO of Nomad Editions and former president of Newsweek. "Throughout her career, Barbara has had an indelible impact on the food and culinary space, and we look forward to bringing her insights to our readers on a monthly basis."
"We look forward to utilizing Barbara's many talents," said Sean Elder, editor of Real Eats. "Her regular column will reflect her many interests and broad experience in the food world. Readers can look forward to personal anecdotes, advice from some of the well-known chefs she is friends with, and even recipes. Barbara's perspective will ensure added value to the unique and forward-thinking stories we provide each week."
"It is a privilege to welcome Barbara Fairchild to our ranks," said John Benditt, Editor in Chief of Nomad Editions. "It's another piece of evidence that the Nomad Editions editorial model is capable of attracting marquee names to offer our readers. We'll have many more such announcements over the coming year."
Fairchild joined Bon Appetit in 1978 as an editorial assistant. She then spent nearly 15 years as an executive editor before her promotion to Editor-in-Chief in 2000, a role she held for 10 years. She has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation's "Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America," and is a regular presence on radio and TV programs involving food, restaurants and travel.
Her influence on the food world will undoubtedly benefit the credibility and creativity of Real Eats, providing knowledge of not only food, but also the culture and trends that surround it. Her expertise in the language of this subject will enhance the new digital age of food writing and reading, and also further develop Nomad Editions' goal of bringing exciting quality content to worldwide consumers of mobile media.
