Nokona Ballgloves Official Sponsor of the Play Catch Movement™
Inaugural Event at MiLB Jacksonville Stadium to Kick Off National Play Catch Week
NOCONA, Texas, June 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Nokona American Ballgloves is proud to announce its affiliation with the Play Catch MovementTM, an organization with a mission "to improve quality of life through the simple game of catch."
The Play Catch Movement was created by Rhett Grametbauer in 2013, who was inspired on a nationwide road trip to connect with others through games of catch. "I played catch with strangers at famous landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge and Grand Canyon. The experience was always the same – people had fun and connected through the game of catch. I became nostalgic for those playing-catch moments of my youth, realized that not everyone has those memories, and decided to start a movement," said Grametbauer. "The benefits of playing catch can be life-changing, and I believe the world would be a better place if we took time to play catch. I'm grateful for Nokona's support to spread the word about the power of playing catch."
Nokona was eager to sponsor the movement, as the company shares the values of community, personal connections, and baseball with Grametbauer's organization. Nokona's President Jeff Beraznik said, "We're encouraging everyone to go outside and play. The beauty of the movement is that it's safe, easy, and accessible. The simple act of throwing a ball creates connection between us, confidence within us, and joy among us. People of all ages, anywhere in the world, can participate and benefit. All you need is a ball and a glove."
The Play Catch Movement will host events, promotions, and special programs.
National Play Catch Week starts June 21st. Upcoming events include a socially-distanced Father's Day catch-on-the-field at the Jumbo Shrimps' stadium in Jacksonville, FL, and at Nokona's 7th Annual Iron Jacket Invitational Baseball Tournament on June 27th in Nocona, TX.
