SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Invisalign, the nearly-invisible orthodontic product that changed the way teeth are straightened, today announced consumer availability of an affordable, five-stage treatment for straightening teeth using nearly invisible aligners. This new five-stage Invisalign treatment option was developed for people with minor orthodontic issues such as very mild crowding or spacing, including early onset orthodontic relapse.

"Many people have very minor crowding or spacing they would like to correct, but don't follow through because of the perceived high cost and long length of treatment," said Dr. Mladen Kralj, of Chicago-based ORA Dental Studio. "With Invisalign's new five-stage treatment, there is now a great option for qualified patients who want an effective, affordable, fast and convenient way to straighten minor aesthetic concerns in three months or less."
Patients who qualify for this new treatment option receive a series of five aligner sets - each set is switched out approximately every two weeks. During this period of time, the patient's teeth will gradually move toward the desired outcome. Although price is determined by the doctor and will vary depending on the complexity of the patient's condition and the area of the country, the average cost for Invisalign's new five-stage treatment will range from $1,600 to $2,300.
"We consistently see patients who have always wanted to fix that annoying little space between their teeth or whose teeth have just begun to shift since going without retainers for so many years," said Las Vegas-based Dr. David Chenin of Chenin Orthodontics. "Now Invisalign makes it possible for those patients to enjoy the benefits of straightening their teeth without the discomfort and embarrassment often associated with metal braces."
According to a recent "Behind the Smile" study of 1,000 Americans conducted by Kelton Research for Align Technology, 63% of those surveyed cited the main reason for avoiding braces to be the expense. The study also revealed that braces of any kind are seen as expensive, but usually worth the investment.
From very simple to very challenging, Invisalign now offers a full spectrum of clear straightening treatments for most types of orthodontic issues. "While Align Technology has been innovating to expand the scope of complex cases that can be treated with Invisalign, the company also realized the need for a low cost, simpler option to make teeth straightening more affordable," said Olivier Lemaignen, senior director of marketing for Align Technology.
