No Kill Nation & MCABSL to Collect Supplies, Donations to Support Animals from MDAS Distemper Crisis
MIAMI, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the wake of late March's outbreak and forced evacuation at Miami Dade Animal Services and the subsequent rescue of almost 500 animals by the community, No Kill Nation, the Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation (MCABSL) and other local animal welfare groups have initiated a supply and funding drive to support the affected pets.
Despite a lack of leadership from MDAS during the outbreak, animal lovers across South Florida came together and saved the lives of the hundreds of animals in need. This life and death crisis was met with resolve and compassion by our dedicated community, and these animals are now being cared for in homes and vet facilities across the region.
MCABSL is collecting and distributing funds for the vet care of the rescued dogs. To donate to this cause, please visit the chip-in here: http://mcabslhelpinghand.chipin.com/mdas-crisis-rescue.
No Kill Nation (NKN) is collecting the basic necessities for dog care such as food, bedding, blankets, leashes, collars, flea and tick applications (URGENT NEED) and any other pet-related supplies. We are also taking donations of food, bedding, flea applications, collars, blankets and other items for cats and kittens.
Both the funds and the supplies will be distributed to qualifying rescues and parties at a soon-to-be announced date and location. For more information on the distribution effort and how to qualify, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
