WASHINGTON, May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After the House of Representatives today passed the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act of 2015, which would halt the currently proposed "Waters of the U.S." rule, Clarence E. Anthony, CEO & Executive Director of the National League of Cities issued this statement:
"We are pleased that the House acted today to halt the 'Waters of the U.S.' rule, which will have broad and potentially costly implications for local governments. Our goal with regard to the proposed rule has not changed – we want a common sense rule for cities and towns, and that means making sure our concerns are heard and addressed by EPA. A federalism consultation with state and local governments is essential to developing a clear, concise and workable regulation. As co-regulators with state governments, a comprehensive cost analysis that examines impacts to all the Clean Water Act programs is key to understanding the impacts of this rule on our communities. We urge the Senate to act quickly on similar legislation."
