NLC Announces Speakers for Congressional City Conference

First Lady, Secretaries Donovan & LaHood to Give Remarks

WASHINGTON, March 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States of America, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, U.S. Senator Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and Trey Grayson, Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, will address local elected officials during the National League of Cities' (NLC) 2011 Congressional City Conference this month. The conference is NLC's annual legislative meeting providing local officials the opportunity to discuss federal priorities that are most important to communities.

During the Congressional City Conference, attendees will also participate in general sessions with national leaders and a range of educational, networking and strategy sessions. The conference will touch on other issues including local energy efficiency efforts, economic development, municipal finance and youth, education and families.
