NJHA Awards 3 N.J. Residents Health Career Scholarships
PRINCETON, N.J., Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Brittney DiMeglio of Belle Mead, Megan Errera of Hammonton and Michele Gomez of Prospect Park recently were awarded $2,000 scholarships from the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey (HRET), the educational affiliate of the New Jersey Hospital Association.
The scholarships were awarded at HRET's annual golf outing and scholarship presentation. The Health Career Scholarship fund provides assistance to applicants who are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate health career program, maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better and demonstrate financial need. To date, HRET has awarded more than $160,000 in scholarships.
DiMeglio is one of this year's undergraduate scholarship winners. She attends Penn State University and is in the final year of her nursing studies. With a possible focus in gerontology, she plans to continue her education while practicing to eventually serve as a professor of nursing.
Errera also is an undergraduate scholarship winner. She attends Richard Stockton College where she is studying speech pathology and audiology. Errera says she found her calling in high school when she first saw a movie about Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan.
Gomez, this year's post-graduate scholarship winner, is pursuing a doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and is a graduate of Rutgers University.
"We are honored to provide support and encouragement to these outstanding students," said NJHA President and CEO Betsy Ryan. "Each plans to work in our state and will continue to care for their fellow New Jerseyans. All three are great examples of healthcare's future."
NJHA is a not-for-profit trade association that provides support and services to help New Jersey healthcare providers deliver quality and accessible healthcare to their communities.
