NJCU To Hold 33rd Annual Media Arts Showcase At Landmark Loew's On May 14
JERSEY CITY, N.J., May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The New Jersey City University Media Arts Department will hold its 33rd annual "Media Arts Department Showcase" of film, video, and digital media by 2015 graduates on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m., at the Landmark Loew's Jersey Theatre, 54 Journal Square in Jersey City. A reception in the theatre lobby will follow the screenings. Admission is free, but a $3.00 donation to benefit the Landmark Loew's is suggested.
A voucher for reduced parking will be available that evening for the Square Ramp Parking Garage, which is located behind the theatre and can be accessed from Magnolia Avenue off of Tonnelle Avenue.
The Showcase will also feature the presentation of the Dr. Joseph Drew Award for Excellence in Media Production, which is presented annually to a senior nominated by a jury of media arts faculty in recognition of strong academic standing, the production of a body of outstanding work, and service to NJCU's Media Arts Department. The Award is named in memory of the beloved professor of media arts and former academic vice president who taught film studies, philosophy, and religion before his death in 2003.
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, NJCU's Media Arts Department houses state-of-the-art audio recording studios; HD video camera equipment; non-linear video editing in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and AVID; two digital media labs; and 16mm film production facilities.
NJCU's Media Arts Department is home to the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium/Black Maria Film and Video Festival. The Department and the Consortium annually co-sponsor the New Jersey Young Film and Videomakers' Festival, which is now in its 41st year.
NJCU's Media Arts Department is also home to the Urban Image Showcase, which provides opportunities for NJCU media artists to screen their work throughout the New Jersey-New York metropolitan area.
