NJCU Names Dr. Daniel J. Julius Senior V.P. and Provost
JERSEY CITY, N.J., July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Daniel J. Julius, an accomplished senior academic administrator and distinguished scholar, has been named senior vice president and provost at New Jersey City University, a cabinet position that reports directly to the University president. In addition to serving as NJCU's chief academic officer, Dr. Julius will also serve as a member of the faculty. His tenure will begin early July 2014.

Dr. Julius most recently served as executive director of The Levin Institute at State University of New York (SUNY) with affiliated faculty appointments at the ILR School at Cornell University and the University at Albany, SUNY. He is also a visiting scholar at the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to his service to SUNY, Dr. Julius was vice president for academic affairs and research for the University of Alaska System of Higher Education and a professor in the school of management at University of Alaska Fairbanks. His experience also includes service as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Benedictine University in Illinois, associate vice president for academic affairs and director of the Center for Strategic Leadership at the University of San Francisco, and assistant vice chancellor and director of faculty and staff relations for the California State University System.
Dr. Julius is one of the foremost authorities in the United States on industrial labor relations/ collective bargaining in higher education. Recent editorials by Dr. Julius have been published in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Education. He has edited 23 books and has authored 80 articles, book chapters, and monographs.
Internationally, Dr. Julius has lectured as a Fulbright Scholar in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and has held visiting professorial status at two European and three Chinese universities. He has worked with the Chinese Ministry of Higher Education for 20 years and served as a distinguished visiting scholar at the International Labor Organization in Geneva and as a guest lecturer at numerous institutions throughout Canada.
Dr. Julius has taught at Stanford University, Columbia University, the University of Hawaii, the University of New Hampshire, and San Diego State University.
He holds an Ed.D. and M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. from The Ohio State University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University.
