Nixon Environmental Officials to Discuss President Nixon's Green Policy on Fortieth Anniversary of Earth Day

EVENT: RICHARD NIXON AND THE RISE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

YORBA LINDA, Calif., April 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the third of a year long series of Richard Nixon Legacy Forums, Richard Nixon and the Rise of the Environment, three prominent Nixon Administration officials will discuss the original goals of the first Earth Day celebration, and President Nixon's ambitious environmental agenda including the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency, the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts, and the conversion of more than 80,000 acres of government property into National Parks.

• Hon. Chris DeMuth, American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow and Nixon White House Executive for urban and environmental policy.

• Hon. William Ruckelshaus, The first EPA Administrator, he concentrated on developing the agency's organizational structure, regulations for air pollutants, and the reduction of automobile emissions.

• Hon. John Whitaker, Longtime Nixon aide and trained geologist, he served as Domestic Council Associate Director for environmental policy and as Under-Secretary of the Interior.
