SAN DIEGO, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the current tragic natural disaster that has occurred in Japan, Nirvanix, the leading provider of enterprise-class cloud storage services, has announced a new program that provides its customers currently storing data in its Node 3 data center in Japan with the option of moving their data to other locations in the Nirvanix Cloud Storage Network—either on a temporary or full-time basis—free of charge.

Currently all of the data in Nirvanix's Node 3 data center in Japan is secure and is approximately 200 miles away from the impacted area, and all services remain normal and available at this time. All Nirvanix carrier-class data centers are fully redundant, including redundant diesel generator power backups and full UPS redundancy to maintain full power at all times—even during rolling blackout periods—to ensure the company's data centers are running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

However, for those customers seeking extra peace of mind, particularly during uncertain times such as these, Nirvanix is enabling customers to select where they would like their data to specifically reside, at no additional cost. Data relocation options outside of Japan include four additional Nirvanix data centers, including three in the U.S. (Los Angeles, New York & Dallas) and one in Frankfurt, Germany.
