Hardy will be responsible for expanding the Nirvanix global sales organization across vertical markets and international domains. He will specifically focus on helping companies make the shift from the painful task of procuring and managing monolithic storage disk arrays with high up-front costs to the elastic flexibility, secure multi-tenancy and usage-based pricing of enterprise cloud storage. Hardy will spearhead a multi-pronged market share assault that includes launching a new global channel partner program, forging strategic alliances and developing emerging markets.
"As companies are being pressured to reduce up-front capital expenditures for IT equipment, the ability to obtain their critical IT resources based on actual business usage is making cloud storage services an increasingly attractive business option," said Scott Genereux, President and CEO, Nirvanix. "Given Erik's extensive executive-level relationships in Fortune 500 companies and SMBs combined with Nirvanix's proven second generation cloud storage solutions—currently in use by leading entertainment, biopharma and IT companies worldwide—I'm confident that Nirvanix will further expand its market share and new customer deployments in 2011."
"With continued advances in cloud storage, enterprises no longer have to worry about obsolete hardware churn, barriers to content collaboration and low utilization rates that often plague aging, inflexible storage systems designed for a previous generation of applications," said Erik Hardy, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Nirvanix. "With the Nirvanix CloudComplete™ portfolio—which spans private, public and hybrid cloud solutions—enterprises can slash capital expenditures, achieve faster provisioning, improve their disaster recovery capabilities and deploy applications faster than ever before. Nirvanix cloud storage clearly delivers the lowest TCO in the industry when compared to conventional storage offerings."
Hardy has nearly 20 years of sales management experience, optimally balanced both in start-up sales and large, global field sales for tier one IT vendors such as Mercury Interactive (acquired by HP), Hitachi, Ltd.'s Data Systems unit (HDS) and 13 years with EMC, where he was most recently Vice President of Global Accounts for North America. Hardy joins Nirvanix from Xsigo Systems, a maker of virtual I/O technologies, where he successfully grew revenue 10-fold in a period of less than 24 months.
