NineSigma and Metro Atlanta Chamber Launch New Open Innovation Forum
Partnership Aims to Advance Innovation in Metro Atlanta, Boosting Business Growth and Economic Vitality
ATLANTA and CLEVELAND, March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NineSigma, the leading innovation partner to companies worldwide, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber today announced a partnership to help create more jobs and bolster economic growth in the Atlanta area. The organizations launched the Metro Atlanta Open Innovation Forum, an "online marketplace" that will empower local companies of all sizes to increase their level of innovation. The program will facilitate development, commercialization and deployment of new science and technology in metro Atlanta.
Organizations are increasingly adopting open innovation (OI) to develop groundbreaking products and accelerate them into the market. Through OI, businesses access complementary technologies from inventors, entrepreneurs, designers and research labs, and incorporate them into their development processes. This helps them shave months or years from their research and development.
"We want to work collaboratively to increase Atlanta's innovation capacity and the region's ability to produce new ideas, technologies, products and processes. NineSigma is the organization that makes this collaboration happen, and we're thrilled to have them as our partner," said Hala Moddelmog, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
Companies in metro Atlanta will have access to NineSigma's open innovation services at a reduced cost. These services include assistance with needs statements; proactive outreach to solution providers, local and globally; and matchmaking with experts. NineSigma's worldwide solution provider network features more than two million of these scientific and technical stars, including Nobel Prize winners.
Helping regions increase their competitiveness through open innovation is another specialty of NineSigma's. For instance, the state of Ohio recently subsidized the cost of local companies' OI searches conducted through the firm. The more than 35 small to midsize companies that have worked with NineSigma to date expect to increase revenues by $350 million and add 175 new jobs within three to five years.
"We're excited to bring this proven model to a new region. Its benefits will extend far beyond the limits of the project. Companies that work with us to launch or expand their OI efforts learn repeatable processes that deliver long-term business value," said Andy Zynga, CEO of NineSigma.
NineSigma is managing the Metro Atlanta Open Innovation Forum through NineSights.com, an online innovation platform where solution seekers and providers connect. Innovation needs of companies throughout the region will be showcased in a designated Metro Atlanta gallery on the NineSights platform. Businesses interested in participating should contact Joel Head, [email protected], or Paul Musille, [email protected].
