Nine Year Old Attempts To Bowl In Every U.S. State, Tours The Nation During "National Learn To Bowl" Month
Natalie Savant Continues Nationwide Tour to Promote Bowling as Centers Everywhere Offer Free Learn to Bowl Programs to Bowlers of all Ages
ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This October, consumers can strike "learn to bowl" off their bucket lists as centers across the nation are opening their doors and offering complimentary four week bowling instructional programs to anyone who wants to learn how to bowl. The first-ever "National Learn to Bowl" month draws inspiration from Natalie Savant, a nine year old who is attempting to bowl in every U.S. state as part of a mission to raise funding for youth bowling scholarships. During the summer of 2013, Savant, who lives in San Antonio, Texas, began her nationwide tour, logging trips to 26 states and she will continue through October with a goal of bowling in every state.
"Bowling is my favorite sport and I wanted to do something fun - bowl in every single state - while raising awareness for youth bowling as well as trying to raise scholarship money," said Savant.
Coinciding with Natalie's tour, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), launched the first-ever "National Learn to Bowl Month," an industry-wide effort to introduce people of all ages to the great sport of bowling. Everyone and anyone interested in taking the free four week program can go to www.gobowling.com to find a participating center in their area.
"Natalie serves as an inspiration to all of us," said Steve Johnson, executive director of the BPAA. Just as Natalie's dream is to bowl in every U.S. state, bowling centers everywhere are coming together as an industry to help anyone who has a goal of becoming a better bowler, or being introduced to bowling."
Added Savant, "The greatest thing about bowling is that anyone at any age can do it."
Beginning October 1st, consumers can sign up at bowling centers nationwide for Bowling 2.0, a comprehensive course that teaches consumers of all ages and levels how to improve their bowling score in just four weeks. The program is designed in four one-week lessons and teaches novice to amateur bowlers the fundamentals of bowling, including how to pick out the perfect bowling ball and how to maintain the proper posture and foot alignment. For those new to the sport, the guide will teach them how to bowl by working just one or two techniques at a time.
