The "IP Stars USA" list highlights the country's leading intellectual property attorneys who have been highly recommended by their clients and peers.
Juanita Brooks, who is a member of the firm's Management Committee, was named an IP Star in both the patent and trademark categories. An "excellent advocate," Brooks is well known as one of the most powerful IP litigators in the country. In 2014, she was named "Litigator of the Year" by The American Lawyer. Brooks has been called "a titan of the patent bar," and has handled more than 150 trials in her career. Dorothy Whelan, Dr. Janis Fraser, Dr. Teresa Lavoie, Jolynn Lussier, and Franceska O. Schroeder were all named IP Stars in the patent category. Whelan, who co-chairs Fish's Post-Grant Practice Group, has handled well over 100 inter partes review and covered business method matters involving both challenging and defending patents. Whelan was noted for representing "clients across a range of technologies including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and polymer processing."
