Nilsa Rodriguez, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who's Who
KINGSTON, N.Y., Jan. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Who's Who recognizes Nilsa Rodriguez, Ph.D., as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to the field of Culinary Education.
Dr. Rodriguez brings 25 years of industry experience to her role as Professor of Spanish and Latin Food Culture at the Culinary Institute of America. She possesses expertise in adult education, curriculum development and design, food culture, hospitality, Spanish and Latin American Gastronomy and Wine.
According to its website, the mission of the Culinary Institute of American is to "teach students the general knowledge and specific skills necessary to live successful lives and to grow into positions of influence and leadership in their chosen profession." The institute is a not-for-profit college "dedicated to providing the world's best culinary education," and "excellence, leadership, professionalism, ethics and respect for diversity are the core values that guide our efforts."
Dr. Rodriguez earned her Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Puerto Rico – Arecibo. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Hispanic Studies, Secondary Education and Modern Languages in Cultures from the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras, an Advanced Doctoral Studies certificate in Spanish Language and Literature from Consejo de Investigaciones Cientificas and her Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literatures and Cultures from the State University of New York at Albany.
To further her professional development, Dr. Rodriguez is a member of the International Association of Culinary Arts, the National Association of Professional Women and Toastmasters International. When not working, she volunteers her time to Angel Food East, Special Olympics and various Catholic charities. She also enjoys cooking for pleasure as well as gardening and travel.
Dr. Rodriguez dedicates this recognition to her parents, Juan B. Rodriguez and Rosa M. Jaca. In looking to the future, she hopes to serve as a mentor.
