NIH's All of Us Journey Comes to California State University - Chico
CHICO, Calif., Feb. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The California State University - Chico and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health will host the National Institutes of Health's All of Us Journey on Thursday, February 8. The traveling, hands-on exhibit raises awareness about the All of Us Research Program—an ambitious effort to gather data from 1 million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health.
"This visit from the National Alliance for Hispanic Health is timely for our institution, which recently became a Hispanic Serving Institution and will have an increasingly diverse student, staff, and faculty into the foreseeable future," said David Hassenzahl, Dean of the CSU Chico College of Natural Sciences. " Historically, Hispanic populations have been underrepresented or not present in a variety of medical and health research efforts. This means that any findings of those studies may not provide useful information to many in our community. Best scientific practice requires that our research efforts focus on the entire population that we serve."
"All of Us is so important to shaping the future of health in the United States," said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the nation's leading Hispanic health advocacy group. "This research program will bring together communities throughout the United States to drive new discoveries, which may lead to earlier disease identification, more precise treatment solutions and better health outcomes for all in the future."
