Nicole Lapin To Serve As Emcee At Twelfth Annual Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation Dinner
NEW YORK, March 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation, a scholarship program that to date has raised more than $3.5 million to provide college scholarships to 137 children of firefighters and victims of the September 11 attacks and other fires and disasters, today announced that Nicole Lapin, the noted business anchor and financial expert, will once again serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the Foundation's 12th annual dinner. The event will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation began in response to a terrible tragedy – the loss of Michael Lynch, a son, brother, fiancé, uncle and New York City firefighter who sacrificed his own life on September 11 in an effort to save others. Facing the ultimate loss, the Lynch family saw an opportunity to help finance the education of young people as a living tribute to the human spirit and the family's collective resolve to respond to adversity with courage, strength, compassion and hope. The goal of the Foundation is to provide the means to help change the world, one person at a time, by helping the students of today become tomorrow's stewards of peace and freedom.
Lapin is known for being the youngest anchor ever at CNN and then going on to claim the same title at CNBC, where she anchored "Worldwide Exchange" and contributed to "Morning Joe" and "The Today Show." In 2011, she launched her own production company, Nothing But Gold Productions, which produces accessible financial content across multiple platforms. Nicole has also served as an anchor and special correspondent for Bloomberg TV. She regularly appears as a financial expert on CNN, "Entertainment Tonight" and talk shows, including "The Wendy Williams Show." She has authored a personal finance book that will be published in February 2015. Lapin served as Master of Ceremonies at the Foundation's 9th annual dinner in 2011.
"We are fortunate that Nicole has once again graciously agreed to serve as emcee for the upcoming Foundation Dinner," said Jonathan Henes, a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis and member of the Foundation's Board of Directors. "She's an outstanding business and finance anchor, and her continued commitment to the Foundation says so much about her character. With her involvement, along with Dennis Dunne of Milbank Tweed serving as Honorary Chair, this year's annual dinner will be an amazing night in support of this very worthy cause."
