Nice-Pak Products To Install Solar Array On Orangeburg Facility

ORANGEBURG, N.Y., Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nice-Pak Products, Inc. ("Nice-Pak") and its affiliate company, PDI, today announced plans to install an 855kw solar array on the roof of its headquarters in Orangeburg, New York. Installation began in late August and will take an estimated six weeks to finish. The ballasted roof-mounted system is designed to prevent 1.5 million pounds of C02 from entering the environment per year.  It is expected to generate approximately one million kilowatt hours of energy per year and supply 15 percent of the building's total electricity load.

The project is supported through various grants including one from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under The NY-Sun Competitive PV Program. It will also benefit from the Federal Business Energy Investment Tax Credit (ITC).  Lighthouse Solar, based in New Paltz, NY was chosen to build the array. The Nice-Pak proposal was given the green-light by NYSERDA in February.

Nice-Pak and PDI have achieved other landmarks in their sustainability efforts, including converting two of their manufacturing plants to "zero landfill" in 2010 and 2011. One of those plants is located in Orangeburg. For more information, visit www.nicepakwipes.com.
