Campo to Lead Education Initiatives, Continue as Chair of the Alliance for Hispanic Education

SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), regarded as the leading voice for the 16-million-strong Hispanic American Evangelical Christian community, is pleased to announce that Dr. Carlos Campo is stepping into an expanded leadership role, overseeing all education initiatives for the NHCLC.

Dr. Campo, who will continue to serve as Chair of the Alliance for Hispanic Education, has partnered with the NHCLC to host an annual Hispanic Education Summit since 2010. His expanded role will allow Dr. Campo to lead the NHCLC's education initiatives to benefit its members and the Hispanic Christian community.

Dr. Campo will provide guidance for the NHCLC's education projects and will represent the NHCLC on education matters via media interviews and articles. The NHCLC's 2014 education projects include focus in three areas:

The Hispanic Education Summit, an annual event which invites Latino church leaders and educators to discuss the recruitment and retention of Hispanic students in Christian higher education, how to finance a Christian college education, how to develop culturally relevant curricula, as well as recruiting the right faculty and leadership.
The Raising the Standards project, which advocates for rigorous education standards alongside Former Governors Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee who have endorsed the Common Core State Standards
The Faith & Education Coalition will launch this summer to help draw public and media attention to a broad base of Evangelicals who are committed to improving educational equity
