NHCAA Presents 2014 Medical Director Award to Gordon Grundy, MD
DALLAS, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA) has named Gordon W. Grundy, MD, MBA Medical Director, Special Investigations Unit, Aetna as the recipient of its 2014 Medical Director Award for the many significant contributions he has made to the field of health care fraud-fighting.
Dr. Grundy is an integral part of Aetna's Special Investigations Unit (SIU), a role he has held since 2008. His work as the dedicated medical director to the SIU, providing clinical expertise and insight to support fraud investigations and advise relevant policy changes, has helped Aetna achieve remarkable savings and recoveries of $300 million in the past year alone. And he has been directly involved in savings and recovery efforts that have yielded more than $30 million.
His proven commitment to fighting health care fraud and his frequent collaboration with internal as well as external stakeholders make him a tremendous resource to our industry. Dr. Grundy is an active member of the NHCAA Medical Directors Advisory Group where he promotes involvement of his professional colleagues. In addition, he has served as faculty for NHCAA conferences and will serve on the NHCAA 2015 Annual Training Conference Committee.
