NGPF Welcomes Yanely Espinal as Director of Educational Outreach
PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF), a non-profit committed to ensuring that ALL high school students receive a high quality personal finance course before graduating high school, is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Yanely Espinal as Director of Educational Outreach.
As a product of NYC public schools born into a Dominican immigrant family, Yanely began her self-study of personal finance in 2014 while struggling with over $20,000 of credit card debt from college. Today, she's debt-free with emergency savings, an investment portfolio of index funds, and a growing YouTube channel with over 25,000 subscribers called MissBeHelpful. Her channel has been featured in Forbes, BBC Minute and Marketplace.org.
With over 5 years of experience in NYC public schools and educational non-profits, Yanely brings a passion for teaching and engaging urban youth. She has a masters degree from the Relay Graduate School of Education, a bachelor degree from Brown University, and a certification in non-profit leadership from Columbia University.
As Director of Educational Outreach, Yanely will be delivering free personal finance workshops at public high schools throughout the greater New York area. She'll also support educators with free professional development workshops. Yanely has already reached students at the following schools:
- Sunset Park High School, Brooklyn
- Brooklyn Lab School, Brooklyn
- Frederick Douglass Academy I, Harlem
- Democracy Prep Charter High School, Harlem
