NextAlarm® Introduces Remote Arm/Disarm

OJAI, Calif., Sept. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- NextAlarm® Monitoring Services, Inc. today announced the deployment of an important new feature for alarm users and partner alarm dealers. Beginning immediately, owners of the NextAlarm alarm broadband adapter have the ability to arm and disarm their alarm systems online, using any web browser, or a free mobile app available for iOS or Android. The feature works with alarm systems that support arming and disarming via telephone, which include most systems made in the last 15 years, and does not require any additional equipment beyond the alarm broadband adapter.

The alarm broadband adapter is NextAlarm's flagship product, and has been available since late 2005. It is an inexpensive adapter, designed to work with NextAlarm's unique server infrastructure for alarm signals. Using the adapter, almost any alarm system can easily be made to communicate over the Internet, even ones that were designed to work only over phone lines.

The new online control feature allows systems using the adapter to be armed or disarmed using a simple web or smartphone interface. The feature requires that the system's code be typed in each time it is used, to maintain the same level of security as arming or disarming through conventional means. A confirmation of the system's status is logged with NextAlarm, and can be viewed online or sent to the user by email, SMS, or phone call.

Online control of alarm systems connected via the NextAlarm broadband adapter is available immediately for systems manufactured by Honeywell, DSC, Visonic, and GE. More systems will be added to the service each month, with the majority of alarm systems on the market today supported within six months. The feature is open to all customers of NextAlarm, and available for partner alarm dealers to offer to their customers through the VoIPAlarm platform.
