Next Generation of Clean Diesel Technology for Farm and Construction Equipment Debuts at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 International Convention
"Lower emissions, more fuel efficiency and more productivity courtesy of clean diesel power." - Allen Schaeffer, Executive Director, Diesel Technology Forum
LAS VEGAS, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The next generation of clean diesel technology for farm and construction equipment is being unveiled to the public this week at the international CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Allen Schaeffer, the Executive Director of the Diesel Technology Forum, issued the following statement about the new technology being featured at the five-day convention, which has attracted more than 2,400 exhibitors. The global convention is held every three years and is expected to draw more than 140,000 visitors.
"This week, clean diesel power is making a big, bold statement about its new levels of capability, environmental credentials and productivity gains. In doing so, the technology is firmly established as the leader ready today to grow this economy and build our future.
"The levels of technology and innovation of these engines, machines and equipment is truly astounding. You see it in advancements in engine performance, design of emissions control systems and the selective use of some emissions solutions and not others. That manufacturers can offer their customers so many equipment choices is only possible with the inherently scalable and low-emissions energy efficient clean diesel engine.
"Many manufacturers are using this global conference to introduce their machines which are now able to meet the incredibly challenging fourth-generation ('Tier 4') engine emissions standards, which are near zero levels when fully implemented. A number of manufacturers are also making significant new product announcements in the vocational truck sector. They too are doing so while providing their customers with greater energy efficiency and productivity. In today's economy, this combination is vitally important to contractors, farmers, industrial engine users, mining companies and aggregate suppliers.
"The new clean diesel technologies, known as the Tier 4 interim standards, have near zero emissions and are the cleanest diesel engines ever produced. Meeting these standards is made possible by the clean diesel system which combines ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel, advanced clean burning diesel engines, and emissions control and exhaust aftertreatment systems as an integrated system.
"From making our farms more productive and efficient, to building and renovating the nation's roads, bridges and public utilities, a full array of clean diesel technology-powered products is ready for work -- everything from asphalt pavers to row-crop tractors and harvesters, from the smallest compact loader to the largest mining shovel and quarry-size dump trucks. The diversity of clean diesel power is truly remarkable."
Schaeffer said several new product technologies are scheduled to be unveiled during the five-day convention that will "revolutionize construction and agricultural productivity and efficiency," including new offerings by:
- BASF
- BorgWarner
- Bosch Rexroth
- Caterpillar
- Cummins
- Daimler-Freightliner
- Deere
- Donaldson Company
- Ford
- MTU Detroit Diesel
- Navistar
- Volvo
