Next Alternative Forges Ahead With Michigan Plant With Help from Congressman Mark Schauer
PHOENIX, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter Law, President of Next Alternative, Inc. (N4H) USA, is pleased to announce that the firm is progressing with its plans for its new plant –- currently awaiting the onset of Phase II EPA testing on its chosen site in Battle Creek, Michigan.
With the assistance of Congressman Mark Schauer, 7th Congressional District, and his dedicated team, Next Alternative (NAI) was able to identify a suitable site and begin the process of bringing this new plant to life. The Congressman and his associates were instrumental in making introductions critical to Next Alternative's ability to secure incentives, which made this deal highly beneficial for NAI, the city of Battle Creek and the State of Michigan as a whole.
Next Alternative has presented its prospectus for the site to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The plan is currently being reviewed and the project is expected to proceed -– pending approval of state and local incentives. NAI is also working with the Michigan Advanced Battery Credit (MABC), a first of its kind initiative that supports companies committed to the development and manufacture of advanced batteries.
According to Law, "We could not be more pleased or thankful for the progress we are making on our new plant." He continued by saying, "Congressman Schauer and his office have been a welcomed ally and advocate of our vision here in Michigan. We appreciate all that he has done on our behalf and we are thrilled that not only will we be able to further NAI's mission of promoting alternative energies – we will also be able to bring economic growth to this great city."
The new plant sits atop an 8.5-acre parcel of land where an existing 35,000sf building will be retrofitted for NAI's needs. The building will house office space, as well as a large industrial facility to be used for battery assembly, manufacture of M-Fuel Machines and research and development on fuels and fuel additives. NAI expects to hire more than 100 local employees to fill positions. The firm has also purchased an adjacent 5.5-acre parcel with thoughts of future expansion.
