NexPoint Launches Energy DST, Expanding its DST Platform into Oil and Gas Mineral Rights

Offering provides accredited investors access to royalty income from more than 200 producing oil and natural gas wells across the Permian Basin and Haynesville Shale

DALLAS, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NexPoint, a multibillion-dollar alternative investment firm, today announced the launch of NexPoint Energy DST (the "Offering"), a Delaware statutory trust ("DST") offering comprised of oil and natural gas mineral rights across two of the most prolific energy-producing regions in North America: the Permian Basin in Texas and the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana. The Offering marks NexPoint's first energy DST and brings mineral rights, a new sector for the DST product, to the firm's tax-advantaged investment platform.

The portfolio includes approximately 1,277 net royalty acres with interests in more than 200 producing oil and natural gas wells, along with more than 300 undrilled locations. Approximately 90% of the portfolio is associated with natural gas production from the Haynesville Shale, with the remaining 10% associated with oil from the Permian Basin. The Offering is sized at $18,844,000 and requires a minimum investment of $100,000. It is available only to accredited investors, and the DST structure provides the potential to involve investors looking to complete 1031 exchanges.

Unlike traditional direct energy investments, the DST owns mineral rights and receives royalty income derived from the sale of oil and natural gas produced from the properties. Drilling, field operations, production, and marketing are managed by a group of established oil and gas operators. This structure allows investors to potentially participate in production revenue and future development activity without direct responsibility for drilling costs or day-to-day operations.¹

The Offering's acreage sits in two of the nation's leading energy basins. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the Permian Basin produced approximately 6.6 million barrels of crude oil per day in 2025, accounting for nearly half of total U.S. oil production. The Haynesville Shale, which spans Louisiana and East Texas, produced approximately 14.9 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day in 2025, and its proximity to Gulf Coast liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities positions it as an important source of supply for growing domestic and global demand.
