About Fleas and Ticks
Fleas are more than just a nuisance. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), flea bites can cause anemia and, in rare cases, even death. In addition, frequent scratching from these itchy pests can cause hair loss and other skin problems.[3]
While fleas may appear more prevalent in the warmer months, it is important to take steps to prevent infestations throughout the year. While the length of flea season varies depending on your location, fleas can hide in small, warm spaces and can live inside houses all year long no matter where you live.3 NexGard kills adult fleas before they lay eggs, a key step in stopping flea infestations.
A number of tick species have expanded their range and are now commonly found in areas where they previously were not present. All 50 U.S. states are home to some type of tick considered dangerous to dogs. [4] Four ticks of veterinary importance are American dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis), Lone star ticks (Amblyomma americanum), Brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and Black-legged (deer) ticks (Ixodes scapularis). [5] NexGard treats and controls these four species of ticks.

Flea & Tick Control Tips
To help protect your pet, take aim at fleas and ticks in and around your home.
- Periodically wash your pet's bed cover in hot water and dry it on a high heat setting to kill any flea eggs and larvae.
- Make your yard less appealing to ticks by cutting grass short and eliminating brush piles.
- Vacuum frequently in your home, especially carpets where your pet tends to lounge.
- Cover all outside crawl spaces and garbage cans to deter wildlife that may carry fleas and ticks.
