Newsweek & The Daily Beast Host Inaugural Hero Summit in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Tina Brown, editor in chief of Newsweek & The Daily Beast will host the inaugural Hero Summit at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C, on the 14th and 15th November. The Hero Summit will examine the essential elements of moral, political, intellectual and physical courage, resilience, and selflessness culminating in a special screening of Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' at the Newseum. The summit is presented by Jeep® with the support of IBM, Mary Kay and USAA.
The summit will gather together men and women of the U.S. military to discuss the greatest moments of heroism they have ever witnessed, the concept of sacrifice, and the lives of America's veterans. Attendees will also hear from those who shape and influence foreign policy, national security, and military issues concerned with the question of our national character, set against the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. And throughout the summit, political dissidents, artists, and journalists will shine light on the wide range of expressions of courage and valor, and what it really means to speak truth to power.
