ASHBURN, Va., Aug. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NEWSHOSTING, the recognized leader in global Usenet newsgroup access, today announced the release of its newest browser version, v1.5.0. The most important feature of this upgrade is the new dynamic PAR2 download. Only as many PAR2 files as required are downloaded and to facilitate this, PAR2 checking is performed in the background while downloading. This saves the user time, bandwidth and processing power. This substantial new feature provides Newshosting subscribers with a faster and more efficient Usenet experience than ever before.
Two additional features that have been added to v1.5.0 are: improved speed for article decoding on multi-core systems and users will now receive a message when the connection retries fail, including the number of seconds until the next connection attempt. Other key upgrades include: the bundled UnRAR library was upgraded to v5, multi-monitor systems have enhanced support for extra detailed status, improved handling of NNTP connection failures and sorting by file name is functional in the NZB dialog.
The v1.5.0 update will take place over the next 4-5 days, however it is available for immediate download by logging into the Newshosting control panel. Upon login click "Download the Newshosting Newsgroup Reader," choose your operating system version then select the download button.
This announcement also comes just after Newshosting hit a major retention milestone of 5 years of NTTP retention. Newsgroup retention is the length of time that a newsgroup post is available to subscribers. 5 years of retention means that Newshosting subscribers can access posts that were added to Usenet newsgroups up to 5 years ago, with 99% completion.
