"We have been working with the Kieler Woche team on solutions that enhance the regatta for sailors, spectators and the media," said Jim Hagemann Snabe, co-CEO, SAP AG. "Our innovative technology provides sailors with tools to analyze and improve their performance, make well-informed decisions and adjust their strategy as needed — in real time."
Bringing sailing fans and spectators closer to the action, the official regatta website will feature an online "SAP Live Center," available in German and English, making the regatta action accessible to an international audience. New this year, SAP will deliver the English version of Kieler Woche TV on the regatta website, providing three hours of live daily race footage and expert SAP commentary. For the first time at Kieler Woche, SAP will also hold "Regatta Reviews" on the Audi Main Stage, enabling all sailors to benefit from SAP expert analysis. More information on how to participate in sailor debriefs and Regatta Reviews is available on the regatta website and at the "SAP Sailors Lounge" on site.
"SAP continues to play a major role in international sailing and we are thrilled to continue working with our longstanding partner for the 2013 Kieler Woche," said Nikolaus Rickers, CEO, Point of Sailing Marketing GmbH. "SAP solutions are not only assisting the development of sailing around the world but have helped our regatta run more efficiently than ever before. SAP has implemented solutions that enhance the regatta for sailors, spectators and the media, and we are confident that their support will help us to once again deliver a world-class event."
The new technology builds on the platform of innovations from SAP that enhance the Kieler Woche experience for participants. These include sailing analytics that display race information in real time and give access to the latest data with the click of a button; post-race replays and visualizations; onsite debriefs between SAP technology experts and sailors; and the "Race Committee" mobile app, which allows the race committee, spectators and other stakeholders to easily schedule races, communicate race starts and ends, register start violations and update race status.
