WALLDORF, Germany, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP NEWSBYTE -- SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the SAP® Penalty Insights Web application is now available at SAPStore.com. This new stand-alone offering provides soccer goalies – and goalkeeping coaches – unique, data-driven and interactive insights to help prepare for in-game penalty kicks and penalty shootouts.
"For penalty shootouts, we had to painfully review data in the past," said Andreas Köpke, goalkeeper coach, German Football Association. "Now we can look at individual players very, very fast and prepare our goalkeepers in an optimal way."
SAP Penalty Insights started as a penalty insight functionality included in the SAP Sports One solution. It was co-developed by SAP and the German Football Association for the 2016 European Football Championship to transform the way teams utilized data and prepared for upcoming matches. Based on positive tests from the German Football Association as well as significant customer demand, the penalty insights function has now been productized as a cloud offering for a wider audience.
Users can watch video clips for every penalty in the database, set powerful filters to help spot shooting tendencies, and identify top penalty takers. A large range of filters lets the user conduct an in-depth analysis of each penalty taker and find behavior patterns, including goal area targeted, match situation, shot characteristics and approach run characteristics. Users can also quickly view key stats like overall number of penalty kicks, number of goals, misses and conversion rate of a player. To view a video of the application, click here.
Currently, penalty data exists for German first and second Bundesliga teams, the German National DFB Cup team and Major League Soccer clubs in the United States. Going forward, additional leagues and countries will be added. The initial target audience is goalkeepers and coaches, but sports broadcasters, journalists and media members may also be interested.
SAP Penalty Insights is built on SAP HANA® Cloud Platform. It can be purchased easily with a credit card at SAPStore.com for €499 per user per year in Germany and US$549 per user per year in the United States. One license is permitted per e-mail address. The solution runs on desktops with Chrome and on iPads with Safari.
